our story
It started with one good pair.
Tate Jacob didn't begin with a plan. It began with a single pair of shoes.
I'd been looking for a long time — something well made that didn't cost a month's wages, and didn't fall apart by the end of the season. Most of what I found sat at one extreme or the other. So when I finally came across a pair that felt right in the hand and on the foot, I held onto them.
Then people started asking. Where did you get those. Who makes them. Can you find me a pair. It happened enough times that the question stopped being a coincidence and started being the idea.

A house, not a season.
What grew from that pair became the way we still work now. Tate Jacob isn't built around drops or calendars. We add a piece when it's right, and not before — when the shape, the materials, and the way it wears all hold up to the same standard as that first pair.
It means the collection grows slowly, and it grows where it makes sense. What began with footwear now reaches into the wider edit — the things you wear, carry, and live with — each piece chosen because we'd keep it ourselves, rather than because the season called for something new. We'd rather release one piece we're sure of than ten we're hoping about.

Honest about how it's made.
We think you should know what you're buying. Our pieces are designed to our standards and produced with trusted manufacturing partners abroad — the same way most good things at this price are made.
We're not pretending there's a workshop behind a velvet curtain. What we promise instead is care: in what we choose, how it's checked, and how it reaches you.
What we're really after.
A small collection of things worth keeping. Pieces you reach for without thinking, that look better worn in than new, and that don't ask for attention to be worth the money.
That's the whole idea. It started with one good pair, and the standard hasn't moved since.
